Dear Vernon Viking Families,

We would like to start by saying that we are very excited about this upcoming Football and Cheer Season. We have been working diligently behind the scenes to make this season even better than last.

With that said we would like to update the league on our competition cheer program. After days of deliberation the executive board has decided to suspend competition cheer for the 2025 season. Let us be clear that this is not the outcome that we as a board wanted. Considerable efforts were made to fill all vacant coaching and director positions. We did not receive communication from any individuals willing to take on these roles, and despite our outreach, we encountered challenges in securing full commitments from potential candidates. Several factors needed to be considered. It was not just about finding people to take on roles (which we did not), but it was also about finding people with competitive cheer knowledge. A requirement we feel is necessary to run a successful and safe competition cheer program that your children deserve.

We want to thank everyone for their patience and thank all parents who participated in the cheer survey. Your commitment to VYF&C is invaluable. As previously stated, we are very excited about this upcoming year. We are especially excited for competition cheerleaders and rec cheerleaders to join forces for an incredible season. It is an opportunity to promote teamwork and most importantly fun.
